Sketchbook Tutorial - Line of Action/Balance Recomposed

For this sketchbook assignment we were required to correct two examples of characters that had bad lines of action. We had to take other elements into consideration when completing the assignment such as the use of asymmetrical balance and the use of basic geometric forms to create the overall shape of the characters. The line in red is the line of action and the blue lines are the basic shapes.

Characters

For this sketchbook tutorial we were asked to create our own unique characters using the techniques learned in class using rudimentary shapes as a base. The four types were: The Big Bully, The Goofy One, The Cute One and The Wise Guy.
